It's my second time to participate in the English speech contest, but the online speech contest is a novel experience for me. In my speech, I told some stories of my favorite leader. Although I can't meet the audience face-to-face, I find it’s an opportunity to practice and to improve. In the whole process, many times of manuscript revisions helps me be meticulous; facing the camera motivates me to manage my emotions and body language. I have also realized I need to slow down a bit, and be more patient &confident to express myselfOnly by doing so, can I share the stories of my favoriteleaders to inspire others. More importantly, this English Speech Contest has taught me to enjoy theprocess through hardwork. Enjoy the precious and unique process of learning so that we can accept the result in anopen-minded manner!.
In my daily life, I am this kind of person who enjoys spending time by myself. However, I found this kind of “hobby” is an obstacle when it is time to express myself to my peers. Fortunately, through this English Speech Contest, I have conquered my “fear” and become more confident. For one thing, the contest has enhanced my English language organization ability so that I grow my confident about more English learning. In the whole process of drafting my manuscripts, I have realized the importance of supporting main idea with specific details. 7 times of manuscript revision are indeed painful, but the efforts pay off. For another, through the contest, I see the significance of public speech skills: body language can make my words more powerful; passionate -tones can help inspire everyone, to name just a few.At last but not least, I hope you can give it a shot in an English public speech, because you can really gain something surprising.
Hello, everyone, I am Jessy Wang. I am very honored and happy to win the first prize of this “Future Leader” English Speech Contest. All these are inseparable from my mentor --- Louis, who worked so hard to help me revise the speech script, and put forward numerous valuable opinions. Therefore, I acquired a lot of new knowledge about public speech such as the writing style and functions of the beginning and ending paragraphs in public speeches, the cadence of public speeches, the roles of non-verbal communication factors in public speeches (body language and eye contact), etc. Through the series of competitions, encouraged by teachers, parents and classmates, I become increasingly confident, and I gradually overcome stage fright. I am also eager to show my gratitude to my school for providing a platform that trains us and helps us achieve self-growth. Difficulties are always inevitable, but we must learn to break through, jump out of the comfort zone, and be brave to challenge ourselves. Meanwhile, I hope that more people will join us next time.
This is Devint from 10A. I hope you can find some resonance in my speech. Though with a lot of heart and energy to modify the script back and forth, I know it might not be perfect, but I'm satisfied with my final speech. I would also like to thank the school for giving me this valuable experience to improve my English skill level. Thank you for all the guidance I have received from Miss Jade Chen and Mr Ran!, I could not have done it without any of you who supported me through the contest, thank you!
Hello everyone, I am Cristy from G10A. I am very happy to have won the second prize in this speech contest. I am very grateful to the teachers and the audience judges for their recognition. In addition, I especially want to thank my instructor Jade. Because when I was preparing for this competition, I didn't have much time. When I received the notice that I entered the semi-finals, my spare time was almost fully occupied, so I struggled for a long time between guitting and not quitting, and finally decided not to give up this opportunity. Having made the decision, my teacher and me communicated many times on manuscript revision. Finally, I had the satisfactory draft. Still, I spent three hours recording the five-minute video for thirty-seven times to finally make it. Despite the twists and turns in the process, I felt grateful that I didn’t give up. The English Speech Contest has facilitated my growth and let me realize the value of persistence.
