Dear Parents,
親愛的深美家長們:
We are hopeful that the worst of this crisis will soon be behind us and that we will be able to return to school at some point in the not-too-distant future. Coming together as a community in times of struggle will make us stronger and we hope that we emerge from this more unified, connected, and better than ever as a school. 希望這場危機(jī)最糟糕的時(shí)刻很快就會(huì)過去，我們在不久的將來重返校園。在困境中團(tuán)結(jié)一致將使我們更加強(qiáng)大，希望從此作為一個(gè)學(xué)校的大家庭我們比以往任何時(shí)候都更好、更團(tuán)結(jié)、更緊密。
Children look to the adults in their lives, including their parents and teachers, to learn how to make sense of the world and to help them grow into adulthood. In these trying times, they are looking closely at how we respond to stress and challenge, and how we model the Martin Luther King, Jr. quote: 孩子們向生活中的成年人，包括他們的父母和老師學(xué)習(xí)，學(xué)習(xí)如何理解這個(gè)世界，幫助他們成長為成年人。在這些艱難的時(shí)刻，他們也在感受我們?nèi)绾螒?yīng)對壓力和挑戰(zhàn)，如何展示馬丁·路德·金的名言：

How have we been responding during this time of “challenge and controversy?” It has been amazing to watch how many of you have risen to the occasion in becoming teachers as well as parents, and exciting to see our SAIS teachers and students learn, grow, and adapt to virtual schooling. 我們是如何面對挑戰(zhàn)和爭議的呢?很高興看到你們應(yīng)時(shí)而變，做家長的同時(shí)也成為了老師。也很高興看到深美的師生共同學(xué)習(xí)、成長，適應(yīng)了線上學(xué)習(xí)。
We are all connected, as this pandemic has helped to show, reminding us of another quote from Dr. King: 我們都是相互聯(lián)系的，此次疫情也顯示了這一點(diǎn)。馬丁·路德·金有另一段名言：

Because of this truth, and our desire to continue to serve SAIS families to the best of our ability, to continue working together to provide the best education that we can in our changing and often unpredictable world, we would like to offer some financial benefits to our current families. We are extending the early bird deadline to April 10 due to the current status of the epidemic. Families of returning SAIS students who pay the deposit by April 10th can take advantage of 10,000 RMB off tuition. In addition, to show our appreciation of your support during these difficult times, SAIS is making a one-time investment in our current families in the form of a “l(fā)oyalty bonus” towards next year’s tuition costs and fees. Returning students will receive 10% off of the 2020-21 tuition if the tuition is paid before May 28th. If you decide to only pay for one semester’s tuition, the loyalty bonus tuition will only be applied to the first semester, not the second. The discounts are as follows:

As a school we work very hard to improve student’s fluency in English, given that for many of our students Chinese is their first language. Our mission is to improve fluency in both of these major languages. Today we would like to showcase some of the work that our Chinese teachers, Ms. Yvonne, Ms. Cindi, and Ms. Dawn, as well as first grade teacher Mr. Edwin, are doing with their students.作為一所國際學(xué)校，我們非常努力地提高學(xué)生的英語流利程度，同時(shí)，由于中文是我們許多學(xué)生的第一語言，我們的任務(wù)便是要提高這兩種主要語言的流利度。今天，我們想向大家展示一下我們的中文課楊老師，時(shí)老師和于老師，以及一年級Edwin老師正在與學(xué)生們一起做的一些任務(wù)。

The students have developed an understanding of the subject through their Chinese studies. 在中文課的學(xué)習(xí)上，學(xué)生們已經(jīng)對這一主題產(chǎn)生了一定的理解。
Planning their day is an important task during these difficult times. 在這個(gè)困難時(shí)期，如何安排自己一天的時(shí)間是一項(xiàng)非常重要的任務(wù)。
Different planning systems have emerged. 已經(jīng)制定出不同的作息計(jì)劃表。
Students throughout the school are continuing their Chinese classes. In younger grades they work their classroom teachers as well as taking art and PE, in addition to Chinese. 全校的學(xué)生都在繼續(xù)上中文課。低年級的學(xué)生，除了學(xué)習(xí)中文以外，還要學(xué)習(xí)美術(shù)和體育。
In the older grades, students have STEM classes (focused on science and mathematics), humanities (mostly focused on English), history, art, and PE. As we look towards the 2020-2021 school year, we are excited for all of the new opportunities that we are planning as SAIS continues to grow. We look forward to sharing more with you soon.
