英語月開始了！ English Month Starts This Week

Welcome to SIPC!

繼九月的“中文主題月”后，本月迎來了SIPC的“英語主題月”，我們通過舉辦豐富多彩的英語活動(dòng)，為學(xué)生提供更多的語言技巧提升機(jī)會。我們通過國際流行的拼詞比賽“Spelling Bee”拉開了本月“英語月”的序幕。KG-G3學(xué)生通過看圖猜詞、寫出相應(yīng)詞語，以鞏固發(fā)音技巧并嘗試拼讀;G4-G7則通過淘汰賽的形式，持續(xù)練習(xí)詞匯拼寫及附加關(guān)鍵詞。

This month is English month and all of SIPC have the opportunity to participate in a range of activities over the course of the month. This will encourage and give the students extra opportunities to use and improve their English language skills. Our first activity for Grades 4 to 7 is a spelling bee. It’s a knockout contest so students have been practicing their vocabulary plus additional tie breaker words. KG to Grade 3 will build their phonics skills by recognizing sounds in pictures. They also have the opportunity to spell.

Grade 6 and 7 Feature

G6和G7的孩子正在準(zhǔn)備最終提交他們的研究項(xiàng)目。學(xué)生目前正在學(xué)習(xí)傳記文學(xué)，以小組合作的形式來研究著名的探險(xiǎn)家，如：克里斯托弗.哥倫布、鄭和、尼爾.奧爾登.阿姆斯特朗。

Grade 6 and 7 have been working busily, preparing their final submission of research projects. The students have been learning about biographies and worked in teams to research a famous explorer. The explorers were: Christopher Columbus, Zheng He and Neil Armstrong.

通過研究這個(gè)項(xiàng)目，學(xué)生可以建立閱讀和寫作技巧。不僅學(xué)習(xí)了如何搜集信息，也避免“拿來主義”。學(xué)生克服了與他人合作的難處，鍛煉了他們的合作技巧和解難能力。在此期間，學(xué)生碰到了一個(gè)難題并且以小組的形式來尋求到了解決方案

Through this project, students built up skills in reading and writing. They have however not only learnt about gathering information and avoiding plagiarism. They have also had to overcome problems and difficulties in working with others. Grade 6 and 7 have learnt how to develop their cooperation and problem-solving skills. They were presented with a problem and were required in teams to come up with a solution.

這個(gè)項(xiàng)目幫鍛煉了學(xué)生的英文表達(dá)能力。在整個(gè)項(xiàng)目中，學(xué)生需要在截止日期前設(shè)立目標(biāo)，并了解和討論自己的強(qiáng)項(xiàng)和劣勢。作為一個(gè)團(tuán)隊(duì)，學(xué)生需要面向同班同學(xué)做最終展示，用英語去闡述他們關(guān)于本課題所收集到的信息。

This project has helped students to practice speaking English. Throughout the project, students have had to set goals and meet deadlines as well as identify and talk about their own strengths and weaknesses. As a team they were required to submit a final presentation to their classmates, showcasing all they learnt about their topic in English.
