It is Spring - a time of growth and renewal as well as the season for Heads of Schools to recruit fresh talent to join our BMH Faculty for the coming academic year. Dr Wall and Ms Packman search out the best teachers, with rich experiences, the right expertise and qualifications, glowing references and BMH-aligned values to join us and we are excited about those successful new recruits who will enrich our already exceptional team of teachers in the year ahead. At the same time, we are delighted to have so many BMH experienced teachers who are choosing to renew their contracts and their journey with us, continuing to cultivate our children's futures and our school. This series seeks to learn more about these teachers and explore what inspired them to stay with us at BMH.

教師簡介

Mr Matthew Toy joined BMH in 2016. He shall return as a Pre School teacher next year for his fifth year of service at BMH. Mr Matt is approaching fourteen years in China, where he has taught English in a variety of ways to students of all ages and abilities. His experience is predominantly with Kindergarten and Prep school children with whom he shares a passion for exploration. After completing a CELTA in the UK in 2006, working in language centres and public schools in Guangdong for ten years, Mr Matt then went on to attain a PGCEi through The University of Nottingham. Here he excelled in tapping into the passions of his students in play and inquiry, building their confidence and fostering a love of learning. He is increasingly excited by life and continues to build on his knowledge and experience.

Matthew Toy自2016年加入柏朗思觀瀾湖學校，下學年他繼續(xù)留在我校擔任幼兒園老師，這將是他執(zhí)教于柏朗思觀瀾湖學校幼兒園的第五年。Matthew老師在中國執(zhí)教已有十四年了，作為一名英語教師，他教授過各個年齡段、水平段的學生們。他的教學經(jīng)驗主要集中在幼教及小學段，他喜歡跟低齡段的孩子們互動，帶著孩子一起去探索和發(fā)現(xiàn)世界。他于2006年在英國取得了英國劍橋大學教師證書(CELTA)，此后他在廣東的公立學校及語言中心工作了十年，工作的同時他也繼續(xù)深造，在諾丁漢大學進修了研究生課程。Matthew老師執(zhí)教于柏朗思觀瀾湖學校后，他善于啟發(fā)學生的好奇心，建立自信心，培養(yǎng)學生自然地愛上學習。他很開心能夠繼續(xù)留在這里分享他的知識和經(jīng)驗，享受當幼教老師的快樂。

QUESTION1

Q：What inspired you to become an educator? What were the key things that attracted you to BMH?

是什么激勵你成為了一名教育者?柏朗思觀瀾湖學校最吸引你的是什么?

Matt：I wanted to have a work life in which I could grow and learn, and most importantly, a job in which I could help people. These are also the things that attracted me BMH. A forward and broad thinking organisation that wants the best for its students and the community. I was attracted by the educational methods that involve the children deeply in the process of learning; rather than teachers telling students exactly what to do and how to do it, they are facilitators and co-learners.

我希望擁有一份讓我不斷學習和成長的工作，最重要的是我非常樂于助人，成為一名幼教老師讓我能實現(xiàn)這個愿望。柏朗思觀瀾湖學校旨在為社區(qū)內(nèi)的學生提供最優(yōu)質(zhì)的教育，打造一所具有前瞻性且集思廣益的組織。這里的教育理念提倡讓孩子積極地參與學習過程而非簡單地填鴨式教學(老師簡單地告訴孩子該做什么怎么做)，孩子是教育過程的催化劑和共進者。

Q：How do you feel about teaching at BMH and living in the community here?

你覺得在柏朗思觀瀾湖學校任教及生活在學校社區(qū)的感受如何?

Matt：I really enjoy living in this community, it’s calm and relaxing, with more natural and fewer man made surroundings. I love my job and the people I work with. I’m lucky to have worked alongside some superb teachers and human beings. And of course the children are wonderful and fill my life with joy and energy!

我真的很享受這個美麗宜人的社區(qū)，它安靜又迷人，四季更迭充滿鳥語花香，社區(qū)崇尚自然沒有太多人造景觀。我很熱愛這份工作以及同事們，能夠跟這么多才華橫溢的老師們一起工作讓我覺得很滿足。毫無疑問，校園里的孩子們活潑可愛給老師們的生活帶來了超多快樂和能量。
