As part of our ongoing commitment to help you grow in your knowledge and understanding of high-quality international school systems, we are pleased to invite you to our first Parent University on Nov 30th, Saturday, from 9:00 am – 12:30 pm.

TWIS具有豐富IB經(jīng)驗(yàn)的教師團(tuán)隊(duì)將會(huì)為家長準(zhǔn)備不同的課題。您可以選擇兩個(gè)與您和孩子目前狀況相關(guān)的課題。這些課題將會(huì)全面地反映出TWIS的教學(xué)思路以及架構(gòu)。

Our IB-experienced academic staff will be presenting topics of great interest to our parents. You can sign-up for two sessions that you believe are relevant to your current situation. These topics will be delivered in a way that reflects the constructivist approach of teaching and learning at Tungwah Wenzel International School.

因此，這些課題不僅僅是在提供資訊，而是希望與家長產(chǎn)生互動(dòng)，鼓勵(lì)家校合作并激發(fā)他們的創(chuàng)造力和批判性思維能力。

Therefore, these presentations are not only informative but they are hands-on and interactive as well, encouraging parents to collaborate and use their creative and critical thinking skills.

In this workshop, we will look into practical strategies that parents can use and practice with their children to help build reading comprehension skills. We will explore different hands-on activities and online resources to empower parents in helping their children become competent readers. Reading can be fun, engaging, and interactive! Come and join us and we will show you how.

Presenter: Ms. Cherie Montalla

Montalla老師在菲律賓、印度尼西亞、中國北部、俄羅斯和中國東南部有18年的教學(xué)經(jīng)驗(yàn)。她對(duì)IB課程非常了解，并與IB-PYP小學(xué)項(xiàng)目合作13年。她是IB教育網(wǎng)的一員，是PYP培訓(xùn)官、申報(bào)學(xué)校資料審閱員和學(xué)校來訪團(tuán)隊(duì)成員。她熱愛閱讀，希望我們的學(xué)生能夠在家庭和學(xué)校的指導(dǎo)和支持下，培養(yǎng)對(duì)閱讀的熱愛。她目前是TWIS小學(xué)項(xiàng)目協(xié)調(diào)員。

Ms. Montalla has 18 years teaching experience in the Philippines, Indonesia, Northern China, Russia, and now in South-East China. She is very knowledgeable about the IB and has been working with the IB-PYP programme for 13 years. She is part of the IB Educators Network as a PYP workshop leader, reader, and school visiting team member. She loves reading and hopes our students will be able to develop the love for reading with guidance and support from family and school. She is coordinating the Primary Years Programme at TWIS.

One of the major goals of TWIS is for our students to gain admission into colleges and universities all over the world. Applying to colleges and universities is an exciting experience as it gives students the chance to look at who they are and what they might want to pursue as a career. This presentation gives an overview at the timeline of university application, as well as introduce the major countries and academic systems for secondary education. We will answer questions that you may have on how TWIS can make the college application process effective and rewarding for families.

Presenter: Mr. Sebastien Gaillard

Gaillard老師擁有法國里昂的學(xué)士和碩士學(xué)位。他還是一名有認(rèn)可資格的法語和西班牙語教師，在擔(dān)任語言教師、科主任、協(xié)調(diào)員和職業(yè)顧問等方面有20多年的工作經(jīng)驗(yàn)。他非常享受以往在法國、菲律賓、中國北部、日本以及最近在阿曼的教學(xué)經(jīng)歷。他是IB-DP語言B考官，也曾是在加地夫推出IB語言B評(píng)估軟件團(tuán)隊(duì)的一員。他加入TWIS擔(dān)任法語B老師和IB DP高中文憑協(xié)調(diào)員。

Mr. Gaillard has a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree from Lyon, France. He is a licensed teacher of French and Spanish. Mr. Gaillard has over 20 years of experience working in various capacities as a language teacher, head of department, coordinator and career advisor. He has greatly enjoyed teaching in France, the Philippines, northern China, Japan and most recently in Oman. He is a team leader of IB DP Language B examiners, and was part of the team that launched the IB’s Language B assessment software in Cardiff. Mr. Gaillard joins TWIS as French B teacher and IB Diploma Coordinator.

An important part of a teacher’s role is to work with parents to provide the best possible outcomes for students. With technology playing a big role in education and in daily life, parents start to ask how they can keep their children and young people safe online while ensuring technology use is positive and purposeful. In this mini-workshop, we will tackle different strategies in dealing with digital citizenship and online safety for your children.

Mr. Montalla has been teaching in international schools for the past 13 years in Asia and Europe. He has taught MYP Design and Technology, IBDP ITGS and PYP ICT. Mr. Montalla is a trainer for Microsoft Partners in Learning, which involves helping teachers on how to incorporate effective technology in the classroom. He started out as a Senior Training Analyst for Dell Computers. With his diverse experience with IT and teaching, this presentation can help parents find ways to make their children use technology safely and responsibly by assessing dangers to online threat.

在此次家長學(xué)院日上，我們會(huì)簡單介紹學(xué)校的中文課程。東華文澤學(xué)校追求成為IB一貫制學(xué)校，所以全部課程，包括中文課，都是采用IB的教學(xué)模式。除了開設(shè)不同的中文課程給中文為母語或非母語的學(xué)生外，IB的中文課程還注重于探究學(xué)習(xí)，培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的思辨能力和溝通能力。力求通過各種多樣化的課堂活動(dòng)，比如，課堂討論，課堂辯論，演講等，令學(xué)生學(xué)會(huì)如何學(xué)習(xí)。我們以把學(xué)生培養(yǎng)成“終身學(xué)習(xí)者”為目標(biāo)。希望了解關(guān)于TWIS的中文課程?請于家長學(xué)院日參加我們的工作坊。

On Parent University Day, we will give a brief introduction to the Chinese language courses of the school. TWIS is aspiring to be an IB continuum school, so all the courses, including Chinese course, follows the IB programme models. In addition to learning the Chinese language as mother tongue and additional language, the IB Chinese program focuses on inquiry learning as well as developing students' critical thinking skills and communication skills. We train students to ‘learn how to learn’ through various classroom activities such as group discussion, class debate and public speaking. Presenter: Ms. Vivienne Fung

馮薇薇老師擁有英國語言文學(xué)學(xué)士、教育學(xué)專業(yè)學(xué)士及普通話教育專業(yè)碩士。馮薇薇擁有20年國際學(xué)校中文教學(xué)的經(jīng)驗(yàn),曾任香港英基協(xié)會(huì)的資深中文老師，現(xiàn)任廣東東莞東華文澤學(xué)校中文部主任。除此之外，馮薇薇還任IBDP中文考官，IBDP中文教師培訓(xùn)官。

Ms. Mei Mei Fung (Vivienne Fung) acquired B.A.in English Language and Literature, B.Ed. in Education and M.A.in Chinese Education. With over 20 years of teaching experience, Ms Fung used to teach IB Chinese and IGCSE Chinese in the English Schools Foundation, Hong Kong. She is now teaching in Tungwah Wenzel International School in China as Head of Chinese. Apart from teaching in schools, Ms Fung is also an IB DP examiner and workshop leader.

Mei Mei Fung has published various IB MYP Chinese, IB DP Chinese books and IGCSE Chinese books, including the Follow me series, A Couse Design Guide to Chinese Language Acquisition in IB MYP (Phase 1-6), To Win – Chinese B Listening Comprehension Skills, Voyage – Chinese B Reading Comprehension Skills, IBDP Chinese B Authentic Theme-Based Unit Design, IGCSE 0509 (Chinese as a 1st Language)writing skills, IGCSE 0523 (Chinese as a 2nd Language) writing and speaking skills, IGCSE 0523 (Chinese as a 2nd Language) listening and reading skills.
