上周Language Workshop結束后,我一直在思考關于語言學習的問題。我還和老師們討論了學習第二語言的諸多理論和策略方法。這是我這學年的主要任務之一,同時也是我們幫助每個孩子發(fā)展雙語能力的關鍵所在。

上周Language Workshop結束后,我一直在思考關于語言學習的問題。我還和老師們討論了學習第二語言的諸多理論和策略方法。這是我這學年的主要任務之一,同時也是我們幫助每個孩子發(fā)展雙語能力的關鍵所在。
這些孩子們還小,我們已經習慣了如何與他們相處,如何給予他們適當的引導幫助,在與他們相處的每一天中都能發(fā)現他們的進步。有次,我們老師注意到了一個特別的細節(jié)。一個還不會說英語的孩子一直在聽老師們用英語對話。然后,這個孩子走到老師面前,用中文就她們的談話內容表達了自己的一些想法,這表明她已經聽懂了老師們在說什么。
當我們用專業(yè)的態(tài)度對待工作,當我們努力提升個人素養(yǎng),并用心提高自己的專業(yè)能力時,作為教育者,我們才能專注孩子的學習過程。我們可以留意到他們在這過程中細小卻重要的每一步,也能確切地知道孩子們處于哪個學習階段。然后,我們可以把這些問題和收獲與家長們分享,一同陪伴孩子的成長進步。這是一段特別的旅程,也正是為什么與孩子和父母一起合作是如此有意義。

Head of Pre-Prep
I’ve been thinking a lot about language and learning this week since delivering the language workshops last week. Since then I have also met with the teachers and discussed different strategies and theories on second language acquisition. This was one of my main priorities for this school year, and a vital one if we are to achieve our aims of strong Chinese and English for each child.
These are early days, but there are some good signs that we see in the children each day, as we all get used to this way of working and the expectations we have of children. One of the teachers had noticed a very special moment. A child, who as yet speaks no English, had been listening to the teachers having a conversation in English. The child then approached the teachers and in Chinese made a comment about her own experience, that showed she had understood what the teachers were talking about.
When we begin to work at this level, when we upskill ourselves and take time to grow our expertise in this area, as educators we can then begin to notice the process of learning. We can notice the small, but important, steps on the way and generally get to know exactly where the children are in their learning. We can then share this with you as parents and work together to follow the child’s progress. It is a fascinating journey and the reason why working with young children and you as parents so rewarding.

This Week's Class News
"本周秋意漸濃,班里的孩子們已經慢慢地適應了校園生活。無論是在戶外還是室內,我們都能看到他們洋溢著笑容的臉龐。
孩子們對兒歌童謠十分感興趣。在班上,他們每天都和老師一起載歌載舞。有時,我們會唱節(jié)奏感很強的兒歌,比如:《Dingle Dangle Scarecrow》和《Baby Shark》;有時會唱帶押韻的韻律歌,比如:《Wind the Bobbin Up》和《Incy Wincy Spider》,其他時間里,我們會隨著美妙的歌曲翩翩起舞,比如:《The Wheels on the bus》和《Five Little Ducks》。
此外,我們還圍繞《Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?》一書開展了一系列的活動。在語言學習方面,我們鼓勵孩子們說出故事書中每種動物的顏色,例如:Brown bear、red bird和yellow duck等。在數學區(qū),我們鼓勵小朋友們將不同顏色的物品進行分類。在美術區(qū),小朋友們選擇自己喜歡閃粉顏色進行繪畫創(chuàng)作。"
