清瀾山學(xué)?！狿arents Workshop | 自我發(fā)現(xiàn)之旅

在過去的10年中，大學(xué)錄取在美國、英國、加拿大等這些熱門留學(xué)國家的競爭越來越激烈。每一年，學(xué)生和他們的家庭都在爭奪能勝過他人的競爭優(yōu)勢，從而導(dǎo)致在整個(gè)過程中出現(xiàn)了高度的焦慮和情緒的波動(dòng)。

In the past ten years, college admission has become increasingly competitive in popular destinations such as the US, UK, Canada etc. Each year, students and their families scramble to get a competitive edge over other applicants, resulting in high anxiety and emotional turmoil during the entire process. In today’s workshop, Mingrong Weng discussed the college application process with parents as a journey of self discovery, an approach that will allow each student to find their best fit. We discussed how to best support our students during this process and learn about the different tools we could use as support.

在今天的家長學(xué)堂中，清瀾山學(xué)校升學(xué)指導(dǎo)主任翁明容老師帶領(lǐng)高年級(jí)的家長們進(jìn)行了一場關(guān)于大學(xué)申請(qǐng)的自我發(fā)現(xiàn)之旅，共同探討一種使每個(gè)學(xué)生都能找到最適合自己的方法。

In the face of parents' concerns about school selection，Ms. Mingrong Weng gave parents a strong confidence at the beginning. Because at Tsinglan, college counselor guides students and families through the entirety of the college application process. Also at Tsinglan, college counseling begins in Grade 9. At every first Tuesday of every month from 8:30 – 10:00, our upper school parents have chance to meet Ms. Mingrong Weng face to face, for consulting any questions about college selection.

面對(duì)家長對(duì)于擇校等問題的顧慮，翁明容老師一開場即給家長打了一支強(qiáng)心針。因?yàn)樵谇鍨懮?，升學(xué)指導(dǎo)老師會(huì)就申請(qǐng)大學(xué)前后的事項(xiàng)進(jìn)行全程持續(xù)指導(dǎo)和輔助。而且，在清瀾山，升學(xué)指導(dǎo)在9年級(jí)就開始了。在每個(gè)月初的第一個(gè)星期二，高年級(jí)家長們將可與翁明容老師面對(duì)面交流，咨詢和分享關(guān)于擇校的想法。

Ms. Mingrong Weng pointed out that school selection must not be “one size fits all”. Every child is different. From the first year of grade 9 on, it is a good time for children to find their own advantages, think about their hobbies and specialties, and an important period for parents to observe and guide their children to understand themselves correctly. For this reason, Ms. Weng proposed the following suggestions to the students of each grade:

翁明容老師指出，擇校萬萬不可一刀切。每個(gè)孩子，都是不一樣的，在9年級(jí)開始的數(shù)年時(shí)間里，是孩子發(fā)現(xiàn)自身優(yōu)點(diǎn)、思考自身愛好、特長的好時(shí)機(jī)，也是家長觀察、引導(dǎo)孩子正確認(rèn)識(shí)自己的重要階段。為此，翁老師分別對(duì)各個(gè)年級(jí)的學(xué)生提出了如下建議：

Entering the ideal university successfully is just the beginning. Facing a new learning environment in a strange country, as a parent, please help your child with love, support, patience, effective communication and positive guidance as always.

是不是成功進(jìn)入了理想的大學(xué)，就高枕無憂了呢。不，一切才才剛剛開始。面對(duì)著陌生的國度，全新的學(xué)習(xí)環(huán)境，作為父母，請(qǐng)一如既往地用愛、支持、耐心、有效溝通和正面的引導(dǎo)去幫助孩子。

As a student, please make good use of your precious 4 years to explore your own advantages, build skills, reflect on yourself, dare to try, and keep continuous feedback with your parents and teachers.

作為學(xué)生，請(qǐng)好好利用寶貴的4年，去探索自身優(yōu)勢、建立技能、自我反思、勇于嘗試，并和父母、老師保持持續(xù)的反饋。
