MIS would like to introduce our four Gap Students. 本學(xué)期，四位間隔年學(xué)生來曼徹斯通城堡學(xué)校，開啟他們的間隔年時光。

Gap Year Students

Simon Gunn

Simon is a graduate of The University of Aberdeen and holds an MA (Hons) degree in Geography. He studied for his A Levels at Merchiston Castle School, Edinburgh and is an accomplished bagpiper.

Simon曾在曼徹斯通城堡學(xué)校(愛丁堡)完成的A Level階段的學(xué)習(xí)，現(xiàn)在他以地理學(xué)碩士的身份從阿伯丁大學(xué)畢業(yè)，他還是一個頗有造詣的風(fēng)笛樂手。

“Instead of simply reading about other cultures and places in books or on social media, undertaking Merchiston’s gap year programme provides an opportunity to experience a new culture first-hand. It can boost job prospects as it shows a willingness to try something new and provides an opportunity to learn a new language which looks good on any CV. By working with MIS I hope to develop my teaching ability along with enhancing my enthusiasm to travel the world”.

比起從書本和社交媒體上去了解一個地區(qū)及其文化，我更喜歡來到深圳曼徹斯通城堡學(xué)校來度過我的間隔年，這樣可以更好地親身體驗(yàn)一種嶄新文化。這樣的一個間隔年的安排，能體現(xiàn)出我探索新事物的精神，也有助于我學(xué)習(xí)一門新語言，這將成為簡歷上非常漂亮的一筆。在深圳曼校的工作經(jīng)歷會讓我的教學(xué)能力提升，也讓我更加熱愛周游列國。

Gap Year Students

Emily Brechin

Emily has completed her Scottish Highers this year from George Watson's College, Edinburgh in English, French, Latin, Business Management, Geography and Photography. She is a keen cricketer and hockey coach and holds the Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award: No mean feat for a 17 year old.

Emily今年從愛丁堡George Watsons學(xué)院取得了英語、法語、拉丁語、商業(yè)管理、地理和攝影的蘇格蘭高級證書。她是一名資深板球運(yùn)動員和曲棍球教練，并由此獲得了愛丁堡公爵獎?wù)隆獙τ谝粋€17歲的孩子來說，這是一個了不起的成就。

“I have always wanted to take a gap year as it’s a great way to get work experience and also lets me explore a part of the world that I haven’t seen before.?

我一直很想開啟我的間隔年，間隔年可以讓我獲得寶貴的工作經(jīng)驗(yàn)，也能讓我探索未曾涉足的世界。

As I haven’t previously been to China and am considering a career in teaching, the opportunity to work at MIS for a year is perfect. While in Shenzhen, I hope to gain new skills from my experience and hopefully decide on what career I want to pursue in the future while making the most of this new culture and attempt to learn some Chinese”.

在來曼校之前，我未曾來過中國，但我一直希望將來從事教育工作，所以來曼校度過我的間隔年是個絕佳的選擇。在這里，我希望能夠獲得一些新技能，清晰自己未來的職業(yè)選擇，并利用這個機(jī)會學(xué)習(xí)中文和中國文化。

Gap Year Students

Robyn Allen

Robyn has just completed her A Levels at Hurstpierpoint School, West Sussex in English, Religion, Ethics and Philosophy and Psychology. She enjoys ice skating and regularly attends drama, opera and ballet performances at the Royal Opera House, English National Opera and Royal Albert Hall. She has a keen interest in Drama and held her school Drama Scholarship whilst at Hurstpierpoint.

Robyn剛剛在Hurstpierpoint學(xué)校完成了她在英語、宗教、倫理學(xué)、哲學(xué)和心理學(xué)方向的A Level學(xué)習(xí)。她喜歡滑冰，對戲劇表演有濃厚的興趣，在校期間曾獲戲劇類獎學(xué)金，她還經(jīng)常到皇家歌劇院、英國國家歌劇院和皇家Albert音樂廳參加戲劇、歌劇和芭蕾舞表演。

“Coming from an English boarding school where I spent most of my life, I have always been keen to travel and so taking a gap year seemed to be the perfect opportunity to do so. I have found that taking a gap year so far has given me the space to think and plan what I want to do in the future. From being here in China I already feel a huge level of independence. Along with the welcoming staff and students, I feel as though this is also the perfect opportunity to explore options for my future while meeting interesting people in a fast paced environment. I am very much looking forward to integrating myself into such a different culture and seeing what it has in store for me”.

我的人生主要是在一所英式寄宿學(xué)校度過的，所以我一直熱衷于旅行，而間隔年就是個很好的機(jī)會去走出來看世界。我發(fā)現(xiàn)，把間隔年安排在如此遙遠(yuǎn)的一個地方，會讓我有足夠的空間去思考和計(jì)劃我的未來。自從來到中國，我已經(jīng)感受到自己在獨(dú)立性方面的巨大提升。歡迎我的曼校師生非常友好，在如此快節(jié)奏的生活中，遇到這些有趣友善的人，我感覺自己在一個絕佳的環(huán)境下探索未來的可能。我很期待自己能夠融入到這里的文化中，并很想看看會對我產(chǎn)生什么奇妙的影響。

Gap Year Stduents

Camille Powell

Camille joins us having just completed her first year at The University of Lancaster. She is studying for a BA in Design with Spanish. Before this she had attended schools in both Malaysia and Singapore. She has a keen interest in sport and drama and will be assisting where she can in these areas. She will be putting her up-to-date knowledge to good use with the DT classes whilst also helping in Marketing and Admissions.

Camille剛剛結(jié)束在蘭卡斯特大學(xué)第一年的學(xué)習(xí)，她正在攻讀西班牙語與設(shè)計(jì)學(xué)士學(xué)位。在此之前，她曾在馬來西亞和新加坡讀書。她熱衷于體育運(yùn)動和戲劇表演，會在曼校相應(yīng)的課程中發(fā)揮作用，并利用她工業(yè)設(shè)計(jì)的專業(yè)協(xié)助市場招生部門工作。

“I decided to intern at Merchiston International School over my summer break to gain some experience teaching Design and Modern Languages. Before going back to start my second year of Design at university, I wanted to help current IGCSE and A Level Design and Technology students by applying my own previous experience studying at those levels. As an English, French and Spanish speaker, I also wanted to assist teaching in as many modern languages classes that I could, including EAL. Additionally, I want to work on improving my Chinese so coming to China is ideal. I believe that working in a new country really gives you the advantage and opportunity to explore another culture as well as meet other people with similar interests”.

我決定暑假期間來曼校實(shí)習(xí)，這樣可以幫助我獲得一些在設(shè)計(jì)和語言方面的教學(xué)經(jīng)驗(yàn)。返校前，我希望能夠利用所學(xué)，幫助曼校IGCSE和A Level階段選修D(zhuǎn)esign and Technology的學(xué)生們更好地應(yīng)對現(xiàn)階段的學(xué)習(xí)。此外，作為一名可以說英語、法語和西班牙語的人，我也想盡可能多地幫助包括EAL在內(nèi)的語言課程老師們完成教學(xué)。而我也可以提升我的中文水平，所以來中國度過我的暑假是個很理想的選擇。我相信在一個新國家開展工作會給我創(chuàng)造機(jī)會，探索另一種文化，并結(jié)識志同道合的人?！?/p>
