On Sept. 18, 2019, the RDF MS girls football team played their fifth game under clear skies at the Shekou Sports Center, against their opponents, the QSI Dragons.
The game began auspiciously with an offensive charge led by Shadow Chen and supported by Jocelyn Huang and Genevieve O’Connell. The Eagles maintained good control of the ball and within minutes, Shadow had scored her first goal of the game. Not long afterwards, Jocelyn scored, assisted by Genevieve, and within 3 minutes, Shadow had scored again. Cici Lyu was next to score, assisted by Olivia McCarragher. The first half ended with another goal by Cici, assisted by Whitney Tippetts, but the Dragons fought on bravely and kept up a steady defense against the RDF offensive attacks.
In the second half, Jocelyn scored twice more, assisted by Whitney, and Whitney scored an unassisted goal. Cici Lyu scored a goal assisted by Whitney, and QSI continued to make the best of a difficult time, putting their best foot forward. During the second half, all of the Eagles took the opportunity to rotate through different positions than they normally do, which was a valuable experience for everybody.
Melody Li saved all the shots against her, leaving the QSI Dragons shutout 10-0 at the end of the game.
This fifth game was the Eagles second win this week, following on the heels of the Eagles’ first ever win on Monday, 3-0 against Merchiston at RDF. Many family members and classmates watched their home game, which was played in a downpour for the first 20 minutes, and it was an excellent opportunity to see a lot of effort, focus, and a football team that is coming into its own.

Boys' Team
The fourth game of the Middle School Soccer season took place on Wednesday 18 September. The boys arrived early and had a good warm up to prepare both physically and mentally.
Our opposition QSI were a disciplined outfit and moved the ball really well. The teams confidence was soon crushed after QSI opened the scoring after large spells of possession half way through the first half.
The full time result ended with RDF in defeat, 3-0.
You're only as good as your next game." The boys can learn from today's game and I am confident today's lessons will make us stronger.
The Eagles of RDF will continue to soar!
