Dear Families,
親愛的各位家長,
The students are working and learning much as they prepare projects and presentations for the Kaleidoscope Academic Celebrations Day and begin studying for their final exams.
同學(xué)們正在為萬花筒學(xué)術(shù)慶祝日,準(zhǔn)備著他們的項目展示,也在努力地學(xué)習(xí),開始復(fù)習(xí)應(yīng)對即將來臨的期末考試。
I enjoy observing the learning that occurs each week. I yearn to attend the more than 700 lessons taught on campus each week. While visiting every class is not possible, observers are often amazed by the learning they see in just a few classes. This week, some students are studying how water pH affects plant growth. Others, are learning about the causes and effects of World War II, operant conditioning of mice, the effects of dangerous viruses, simple and intermediate computer coding, cubism in art, principles of happy marriage and family, health and fitness, presentation skills, and more.

The learning in afternoon and evening classes is also endearing and amazing. In clubs, evening study, special classes, and study groups—the education of hearts and minds goes on and on! Students enjoyed learning social dance from Mr. Manhar Dalal, Mrs. Melissa Leuschel, and Dr. Steve Hudson during an optional evening class mini-series.

* SOCIAL DANCE INSTRUCTION. May 29, June 5. 7–8 PM. A-Dance Room. Come one, come all! Get ready for the End-of-Year School Dance on June 12!

* CHECK POWERSCHOOL. Your child’s grades are updated frequently. You can see many final projects and final exams coming in the last few weeks. Please talk to your child to help them plan and manage the work.

* ACADEMIC CELEBRATIONS DAY. On May 31, please join us for a day of celebrating project-based learning, coupled with fun, academic competitions. We are planning a wonderful time celebrating the students' efforts. Mathematical competitions, spelling competitions, geography games, business fair, World War II museum, technology fair, art exhibits, musical performances, and other competitions will be held throughout the school day! We encourage each student to have at least one parent join us to enjoy the outstanding academic work, programs and performances of our students! See schedule below.

* OPEN DAY. RDFIS is hosting “Open Days” for prospective students and families on June 1. These are opportunities for prospective students and families to learn about RDFIS, visit the campus, take the entrance examination, and meet the administration and some staff. We all enjoy being in clean buildings, streets, schools, and parks. Our environment influences our mental focus and emotion. When we recognize how our feelings change in different surroundings, we begin to take responsibility for the situations around us and change them for the better. We discard trash, straighten our bed, organize our desk, etc.

At RDFIS, dorm teachers and homeroom teachers help students learn the habit of cleanliness in their dorms so they can experience a sense of self-efficacy which fosters greater self-efficacy, orderliness, and learning in every area of their personal lives.
