我非常榮幸能擔(dān)任深圳南山國(guó)王學(xué)校(籌)的創(chuàng)?？傂ｉL(zhǎng)一職，負(fù)責(zé)深圳南山國(guó)王學(xué)校的按期成功交付和順利運(yùn)營(yíng)，而這所分校已成為英國(guó)坎特伯雷國(guó)王學(xué)校悠久的歷史長(zhǎng)河中不可或缺的一部分。有著40余年歷史的現(xiàn)代化城市深圳常被譽(yù)為世界“摩天大樓之都”，這與遠(yuǎn)在英國(guó)的古城坎特伯雷截然不同。英國(guó)坎特伯雷國(guó)王學(xué)校作為歐洲最古老的學(xué)校，將會(huì)在這截然不同的環(huán)境和文化中重塑自我。我非常期待，在這兩所學(xué)校之間建立充滿活力的多元化合作與交流，而深圳南山國(guó)王學(xué)校這個(gè)目前已經(jīng)按計(jì)劃開(kāi)發(fā)建設(shè)中的項(xiàng)目，無(wú)疑會(huì)大大促進(jìn)中英兩地國(guó)王學(xué)校教育合作并使雙方受益。

Incoming Founding Executive Principal of

The King’s School, Canterbury, Shenzhen International

It is a great honour and privilege to be responsible for the safe delivery and running of the King’s School in Shenzhen, just as it has been to have been a small part of the history of such a great school in Canterbury. Modern Shenzhen, often labelled the world’s ‘skyscraper capital’, has a history of about 40 years. It couldn’t be more removed from Canterbury, yet King’s, the oldest school in Europe, will reinvent itself in this very different environment and culture. I look forward to establishing many vibrant links between the schools. We shall all benefit from working together, just as we already are on the development of the project.

I leave the new International College in Canterbury in the safe and inspirational hands of Bill and Jo Prior under whom I am sure it will go from strength to strength. The same is true, for King’s and Junior King’s. These are exciting times in education, but what matters most is the way a school looks after its pupils. Nowhere does this better than King’s in Canterbury and, of course, I hope in Shenzhen.

Moving on, we have a great deal to do over the next few years as we establish what we plan to be one of the very best schools in Asia. We shall be providing an all-round education focusing upon the highest academic standards alongside providing many opportunities for wider personal growth. I really look forward to meeting as many people as possible in Shenzhen and to educating children of all nationalities. I hope you will come to meet us and share in our excitement about this project and the education we shall provide.

Geoff Cocksworth曾就讀于三所頂尖的英國(guó)大學(xué)：?？巳卮髮W(xué)、劍橋大學(xué)和倫敦國(guó)王學(xué)院。他的教育事業(yè)始于倫敦，后受聘于英國(guó)坎特伯雷國(guó)王學(xué)校。在坎特伯雷國(guó)王學(xué)校任教二十余年里，他擔(dān)任過(guò)多項(xiàng)高層教學(xué)管理工作，最矚目的是作為主管所有教學(xué)和與學(xué)術(shù)事物相關(guān)的副校長(zhǎng)。在主抓教學(xué)工作的過(guò)程中，他一直專注于為國(guó)王學(xué)校建立國(guó)際對(duì)外友好合作交流。現(xiàn)任英國(guó)坎特伯雷國(guó)王學(xué)校國(guó)際部校長(zhǎng)的Geoff，早在深圳分校項(xiàng)目啟動(dòng)初期就已著手參與，并一直幫助設(shè)計(jì)規(guī)劃深圳分校。與此同時(shí)，Geoff還設(shè)計(jì)并指導(dǎo)成立英國(guó)坎特伯雷國(guó)王學(xué)校國(guó)際學(xué)院。

Brief Personal Biography

Geoff Cocksworth studied at three UK universities: Exeter, Cambridge and King’s College London. His first teaching posts were in London before moving to the King’s School, Canterbury, where he has occupied various senior positions for over 20 years, most notably as Deputy Headmaster in charge of all academic matters. He has always focused upon building international links for King’s and it is in his current role as International Director that he has developed and helped to design the King’s School in Shenzhen. He has also designed and recently launched a new International College for King’s in Canterbury.

His wife, Bernie (now deceased) was an economist and a very successful teacher, and his two eldest daughters, Alexandra and Rosanna, are also rapidly rising up the profession having graduated at Cambridge and Durham respectively. Education is in the DNA. His youngest daughter, Eliza, is a student of French and Music in London, having also studied in California, Montreal and Paris.

Geoff speaks at international conferences and has published articles on education and philosophy. He was a very proficient sportsman and is keen to watch as much sport as his job allows in Shenzhen and Asia.
