Dear BASIS International School Shenzhen Parents and Guardians,

I would like to use this space to congratulate our incredible student performers on the amazing events that they pulled off to great success last Thursday. Both Winter Concerts were full of talent and fun for the whole family. Of course, this also means that we owe a deep debt of gratitude to our music faculty who put in long hours perfecting every pitch. For those staff, parents, and students who supported in preparation, backstage, as hosts (thank you Sky and George!), or in the audience thank you for continuing this winter tradition and supporting arts at BISZ.

借此機(jī)會(huì)，衷心祝賀我校出色的小演員們!上周四的兩場(chǎng)冬季音樂(lè)會(huì)演出十分成功，學(xué)生們淋漓盡致地施展才華，家長(zhǎng)們也收獲了滿(mǎn)滿(mǎn)的歡樂(lè)。

小學(xué)合唱團(tuán)表演

Lower School choir performance

Heading into the winter break the lower school choir put on the performance of the year, with their perfectly orchestrated show “Winter Wonderland”.

寒假在即，經(jīng)過(guò)精心籌備，小學(xué)部合唱團(tuán)在“冬日仙境”音樂(lè)會(huì)完美首秀。

The One Voice, One World choir sang 4 exquisite seasonal tunes which are all related to the Christmas baby or the winter and teach us about love and peace.

“同一個(gè)聲音，同一個(gè)世界”合唱團(tuán)一共演唱了4首歌曲，均與圣誕寶寶或冬季有關(guān)，給了我們很多關(guān)于愛(ài)與和平的啟迪。

The closing piece was “See Me Beautiful”. This wonderfully performed song was made even more heartwarming as the choir used sign language to accompany their singing, adding unimaginable depth to their Finale.

壓軸曲目是“請(qǐng)看見(jiàn)我的美”，孩子們的手語(yǔ)表演讓這首歌曲更加驚艷，也更有深度。

A special thank you to the extremely professional and talented Mr. Shahbazi and Mr. Gaul who founded and guided the One Voice, One World choir this year.

非常感謝專(zhuān)業(yè)有才的Mr. Shahbazi 和 Mr. Gaul，是他們籌建和培養(yǎng)了“同一個(gè)聲音，同一個(gè)世界”合唱團(tuán)。

Finally, every bit of praise should be lavished on the young performers, as their tireless efforts and practice over the last two months has culminated in a performance which left the audience feeling uplifted and ready to face the winter ahead.

最后，我們的小小表演者們值得著重贊揚(yáng)!是他們兩個(gè)月來(lái)不知疲倦的排練成就了這場(chǎng)精彩的表演，讓觀眾也隨之振奮，準(zhǔn)備好迎接這個(gè)冬天。

A Winter Concert of

Epic Proportions

The raw talent of our Middle and High School students was showcased Thursday night with performances from our 5th grade recorder/ukele ensemble, various bands, and BISZ Choir.

上周四晚，初中和高中同學(xué)們組成的五年級(jí)豎笛/尤克里里樂(lè)團(tuán)、多支樂(lè)隊(duì)和貝賽思合唱團(tuán)攜手為我們帶來(lái)了一場(chǎng)精彩的冬季音樂(lè)會(huì)。

Michelle Murphy shared that she is trying to stretch her students’ confidence and creativity on stage. This results in very expressive, movement-based pieces. She says, “We want to be ‘the choir to watch’ in Shenzhen.” I am sure all of us who were there Thursday night are excited to see them perform any chance we get.

合唱團(tuán)老師Michelle Murphy分享道，她努力增強(qiáng)學(xué)生在舞臺(tái)上的信心和創(chuàng)造力，最終表演十分成功，角色栩栩如生，動(dòng)作富有感染力。Ms. Murphy分享道：“我們想把它打造成為深圳‘可觀賞的合唱團(tuán)’”。相信周四晚在場(chǎng)的所有觀眾都親眼見(jiàn)證了它的美妙與震撼!

The show-stopping entrance of a red-nosed Mr. Gaul (primary drama) and Santa Claus (our very own Mr. Bob) seemed to put everyone in the mood for a fun holiday season.

當(dāng)晚，我校小學(xué)戲劇老師Mr. Gaul戴上滑稽的紅鼻子，體育老師Mr. Bob精心裝扮成圣誕老人。兩位的出場(chǎng)讓觀眾驚喜不已，掌聲不斷，沉浸在圣誕的節(jié)日氛圍中，歡樂(lè)無(wú)限。

A special thank you to parents, faculty and staff who helped make the entire evening happen. Thank you to all those who came out to support this event and who got to enjoy the opportunity to see these students in a much different light. BISZ students are constantly doing amazing things and I always enjoy the opportunity to get to know their now not-so-hidden talents!

This September, 23 Library Student Volunteers started their volunteer service in BISZ Library. As the first group of official Library Student Volunteers, they brought warmth to this cold winter.

今年九月，深圳貝賽思圖書(shū)館迎來(lái)了23位圖書(shū)館學(xué)生志愿者。作為建館以來(lái)第一批正式的圖書(shū)館學(xué)生志愿者，他們的到來(lái)為這個(gè)冬日增添了許多溫暖。

These new Library Student Volunteers started their first training lesson with great curiosity to learn about the layout of library facilities and library classification systems.

這些在面試中表現(xiàn)出色的學(xué)生志愿者們懷著對(duì)圖書(shū)館的好奇，開(kāi)始了“入職培訓(xùn)第一課”。在這里，他們熟悉了館內(nèi)布局，并學(xué)習(xí)了圖書(shū)分類(lèi)法的相關(guān)知識(shí)。

Library Student Volunteers’ daily work includes book shelving, shelf reading, and book processing. After adequate practice, the Library Student Volunteers have become more skilled and confident.

圖書(shū)館學(xué)生志愿者們的日常工作內(nèi)容主要包括圖書(shū)上架、順架和圖書(shū)加工。經(jīng)過(guò)多次的實(shí)踐訓(xùn)練，如今圖書(shū)館學(xué)生志愿者們已漸漸熟悉各項(xiàng)工作流程，工作時(shí)也變得更為熟練自信。
